Activist Medha Patkar confronted sturdy protest and public ire whereas visiting Dhinkia village within the Jagatsinghpur district, the place JSW has proposed to arrange a mega metal plant. After assembly Debendra Swain, who led the protest in opposition to the proposed JSW plant at Kujang sub-jail, Patkar was heading to Dhinkia village to fulfill Swain’s members of the family.

Residents, who assist the mission, staged a protest on the entrance to their village. Facing public opposition, Patkar returned with out assembly Swain’s members of the family. “There is different news coming out regarding the project. We came here to know about the actual fact from the villagers. We discussed with local people about the facilities they are getting from the company and government. They did not oppose us.”

“We are fine and living in harmony. We don’t know why she is coming to our village. We will not allow any leader to enter our village and create a disturbance,” stated Nirvaya Samantray, a resident of the village.

Sajjan Jindal-owned JSW Utkal Steel Ltd (JUSL) has proposed to arrange a 13.2 MTPA built-in metal mission on the web site close to Paradip in Jagatsingh district with an funding of Rs 65,000 crore. Earlier, Posco had deliberate to arrange a 12 million-tonne capability metal mission on the web site with an funding of Rs 52,000 crore. But following public resistance in addition to regulatory hurdles, the South Korean metal main formally withdrew from the mission.
