Spirit Airlines is suspending its shareholder assembly, beforehand scheduled for Friday, till June 30 so it may well proceed deal talks with Frontier Airlines and JetBlue Airways, and with its stockholders, the service mentioned Wednesday.

Spirit’s announcement got here two days after JetBlue sweetened its provide for the low cost airline, which has had a merger settlement in place with fellow finances service Frontier since February.

Frontier and JetBlue each say they see Spirit Airlines as key to their future progress. Either mixture would create the fifth-largest airline within the U.S.

Spirit has repeatedly rebuffed JetBlue’s affords and mentioned that an acquisition can be unlikely to move muster with regulators, whereas JetBlue has contended each offers would face scrutiny from the Justice Department. Spirit shareholders have been as a consequence of vote on the cash-and-stock Frontier deal on Friday. JetBlue urged Spirit stockholders to reject that merger.

Proxy advisory agency Glass Lewis final week advisable shareholders vote in favor of the Frontier deal whereas one other agency, ISS, mentioned they need to reject it.

Shares of Spirit and JetBlue have been down lower than 1% in premarket buying and selling Wednesday, whereas Frontier’s have been unchanged.

JetBlue and Frontier did not instantly return a request for remark.
